Our eighth episode in our new webinar series ‘In Discussion with Denovo’ took place on Wednesday 3rd June at 3:30pm.
In Episode 8 we spoke to Holly O’Hara from Jones Whyte and Caitlin O’Hare from Levy & McRae about the challenges of being a Trainee Solicitor during lockdown.
Holly and Caitlin have just commenced their second year of their traineeships with their respective firms. Like many of us, they have been working remotely for the past few months and are keen to give our listeners some insight into the challenges trainees have faced, in addition to the positives that have emerged during this time.
We discussed what is driving Holly and Caitlin to become solicitors, the competitive nature of completing the Diploma in Professional Legal Practice to gain a traineeship, and how they got to where they are today. They also pulled back the curtain on what it’s really like to be a trainee, with a focus on the support needed to succeed, how firms embrace the views of the next generation and the input they have in the decision making process.
Moreover, we had a conversation about the short, medium and long-term effects COVID-19 is having on trainees.
