Hey Legal made FREE to help Scottish Lawyers with CPD and more

On Saturday, Scottish legal tech startup Hey Legal, removed the payment wall from their subscription service, to allow all lawyers free access to the site’s online CPD qualifying legal content. In their statement on Twitter, they said: 

“We believe our content and platform can help Scottish lawyers in these difficult times, so we have taken the decision to remove our paid monthly subscription and to make it all free to access. It is a small gesture in the grand scheme of things, but it is the best we can offer.”

Access to the content will be entirely free until at least 30^th April when that will be reviewed. New content is being created currently with a particular focus on topics which relate to the current circumstances. You can create a free account at www.heylegal.co.uk and no payment details are required at any stage. 

Completed courses will count towards your CPD requirement. This decision has been supported by Hey Legal’s main sponsor Denovo Business Intelligence.

Grant Yuill, Denovo’s Head of Marketing stated: “This is an incredible gesture from Hey Legal team. We fully support and applaud this initiative during an unprecedented and challenging time for the legal sector. We would encourage anyone involved in legal profession to take this opportunity to get access to free CPD.”

This is also an opportunity for advocates, solicitors, solicitor advocates, academics, technologists and more to contribute valuable content to the legal community. With many CPD events being cancelled, the platform is offering to record sessions remotely and host them on the platform. They said: 

“If have any content that you think will help our community then please contact us and we will work with you to easily place it on to our platform – perhaps a talk you were due to give at a now cancelled CPD event. The content can be removed from our platform at the end of the free period should you wish.”
