Denovo were delighted to host the Vocational Customer Care day to the 2nd Year students of Glasgow College, Cardonald Campus. They arrived early on Thursday 30th October and were very keen to see how customer service operates in a real time environment. This was a practical exposure of “a day in the life of” following on from Denovo’s customer care presentation on 23rd October! The students zealously mingled throughout the various departments gaining an insight into how customer care is applied in practice across the organisation. The students had certainly done their homework as they arrived hungry to learn more asking an array of pertinent questions! We certainly hope they enjoyed the experience as much as Denovo enjoyed having them. In accordance with the College, we set the students an essay writing competition with prizes awarded to the students with the best answers!
As part of Denovo’s ongoing commitment to supporting and developing young people, we recently assisted Glasgow Clyde College at Cardonald Campus with their vocational training programme. Denovo delivered a presentation to 2nd year pupils studying customer care principles.
We were delighted with the turnout from the profession for our “Making Profit Easier” seminar held on 12th June at the Centre for Contemporary Arts in Glasgow. Over the course of the day and into the evening attendees heard presentations from Graeme Bryson of William Duncan & co and Stephen Moore of Moore Legal Technology. Graeme looked at general routes to profitability and tax efficiency while Stephen talked about ways in which law firms could look to gain profitable business from the internet.
Margaret Buchanan of Denovo provided a practical presentation of our legal intelligence software and the day concluded with a Question and Answer session involving all of the speakers and Alasdair Thomson of Network Legal who talked of the process involved in implementing our software in to a busy legal practice. As an added bonus the event qualifies as CPD and the evening session concluded in time to allow all attending still to see the kick-off of the opening game of the World Cup.
Thanks to all who attended and participated. If you were unable to attend then please feel free to contact us and we can discuss the topics covered or provide contact details of all involved.

Cuts, contracting and court closures. These are challenging and fast-changing times for the legal aid profession so it’s important that you keep yourself up to date with all that’s going on.
The 2013 Legal Aid Conference will consist of joint sessions for both civil and criminal legal aid practitioners as well as streamed sessions covering particular civil and criminal topics. Each session will focus on key issues and will provide an opportunity to hear from expert speakers, ask questions, share experiences and network with fellow professionals. The keynote address will be delivered by the Cabinet Secretary for Justice, Kenny MacAskill.
This year’s topics will range from proposed developments in civil and criminal processes; how to sustain the legal aid system while making financial savings; to contracting and children’s legal aid as well as a session on the introduction of financial contributions and changes to financial eligibility.
Also there will be the opportunity to raise any issues with the Scottish Legal Aid Board by visiting their drop in surgery.
The Conference runs on Friday 13 & Saturday 14 September 2013 in Doubletree Hilton, Dunblane. You can view more details of this event at Law Society of Scotland & Scottish Legal Aid Board Conference 2013
